Manchester Case Study
The team at I-Clean were approached in June 2024 by the manager of a Job Centre in Manchester who were requesting a commercial roof clean. Upon assessment, it was decided that a low pressure steam and detergent scrub was required to remove the build up of moss and algae . We therefore quoted the client for this work and set a start date upon their agreement to go ahead.
Project Preparation
In order to plan for the project properly our team visited the site to assess how best to access it during the clean. At this time it was decided that pedestrian and traffic management would be required throughout the commercial roof clean to ensure the safety of the general public. At this point, we started to make the necessary arrangements for the project start date.
How Did the Manchester Commercial Roof Clean Take Place?
On the day of the commercial roof clean in Manchester, the team used a trailer-mounted pressure washer. This allowed low pressure to remove the debris and moss from the roof without causing any damage to the roof tiles. Commercial soft washing techniques with sodium hypochlorite/ greenwash mix were also applied to kill the spores on the roof and prevent regrowth for up to 5 years.
3 members of our team were required for the project, with one acting as a groundsman to maintain the safety of the general public and the other 2 completing the roof clean. The team accessed the area via truck-mounted access platform, using the basket to reach the roof rather than dangerous methods such as ladders or even walking on the roof.
Results of the Project
The before and after photos speak for themselves when it comes to end results of this Manchester commercial roof clean. All moss and algae was removed from the roof, leaving it in a better condition than when first arrived on site. The team were able to restore the roof to the condition it was in when first laid.
By exterminating the algae and moss at the root the roof will remain in this condition for up to 5 years, whilst also helping to prevent more damage to the roof from blockage. The clean also allowed a clear visual for our roofing team who were able to provide recommended repairs to ensure longevity from their current roofing structure.
